How to become an independent learner of English language

Introduction:

Learning a language is important because it gives opportunities to develop a comprehensive education, which will provide skills to be more efficient in the regular activities, this way we will have more opportunities to be successful in professional life; we mustn´t forget that is also one of the most entertaining and rewarding activities that can be taken.

Learning a language is always complicated; it demands a lot of effort and dedication, many hours of reviewing theoretical for grammar and many more for learning correct phonetics.

Learning a language at a specialized bilingual school should be the best choice, but will it give us all the tools needed to learn a new language?

 It is true that professional assistance from high quality tutors, specialized methodology and appropriate environments, makes learning easier, but it is also true that we have to practice at home to reinforce the knowledge acquired

In my opinion it is really important to find the fun side in learning. I mean trying to reinforce knowledge doing educational and fun activities.

Here are some activities that I do to be a better learner:

·         Read books and magazines in English, try to find topics of my interest or related to my major; some of the books I read,  had a questionnaire at the end, this way I can resolve it, and know if I really understood the reading.

in the faculty of veterinarian medicine exists a  library with books in English, so many times I went to read and hear some audio books, these activities  helped me with my listening and reading comprehension skills

Also I bought an interactive CD to learn English, called Speak Up. I really like practicing my English using this CD, because it has interesting topics, and also because is easy to use

·         to improve my listening skills I decided to see some movies in English, and  watch some television programs in English like :

               Two and a half men

               The lord of the rings                           without subtitles :)

The black swan

The big bang theory

Also I found some podcasts in English, one of them is the podcast BBC world, in this podcast the main current topics of the week are described. From international politics to scientific or sports

·         Another fun way to practice your English is telling jokes

·         Hearing music in English, and try to understand the lyrics, also I try to translate my favorites songs

The important thing is that you mustn’t forget:

Having confidence in ourselves

Develop discipline and be demanding with ourselves

Learn only what you need

Learn at your own pace

Keep an open mind

Apply your knowledge in real life

What are the arguments for and against using abandoned dogs forsurgery practice, in veterinary?

Veterinarians should give a decent treatment to animals, not only as physicians but also as humans.

In the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, there are specific facilities for the abandoned dogs that are destined to give practical training for surgery class. Dogs are used to give a practical approach to the proper handling that must be performed in a surgery, and then they are given a merciful death

Welfare, care and protection of animals is a very serious issue, because they involve actions on living beings of inherent worth, that´s why according to the possibilities, we have to provide the best treatment possible  for the greatest number of animals.

   

Mexico City has five million dogs, of which 75% end up in the streets; this reflects the lack of education in our country: it is believed that many of the problems about animal overpopulation  must be due to the environment that surrounds our society, like the absence of culture and the inefficiency that we have to regulate our conduct social

Arguments for:

·         Dogs  would not die, on the streets of starvation or by being hit, instead they will  

           have a merciful death

·         Their lives will improve our surgical skills

·         Dogs would be worse off, if they were in the municipal kennel or in the streets, somehow do not lack food or shelter so you could say that their quality of life is better

Arguments against:

·         In D.F exists an official norm that prohibits the use of abandoned dogs for

          experimentation or teaching, so many of them are “transferred” to de FMVZ from

          other states, that´s why the dogs suffer during the process of moving and stay

·         There is an inadequate treatment for the dogs, because of the inexistent training that

           is offered to employees by our faculty

Conclusion:

In my opinion it is morally right to be allowed to use dogs lives for surgery practice, because this situation promotes an integral education so, veterinarians would be able to learn more and have practice to help animals, in an efficient way, but we mustn’t forget the good treatment that veterinarians have to provide to the abandoned dogs.

Hi! I’m a Mexican girl dedicated to learn new things each day. I love other cultures and traditions, so I would like to travel around the world to see different perspectives of life. México is an extraordinary country, if you have any chance to come,  dont  think twice, you should visit the Riviera Maya, it's really amazing, that's why I go there every vacation.If you like pre hispanic history, México is the best place to appreciate the most extraordinary pre hispanic buildings of America like Palenque,Chichen Itza Tulum and Bonampack.

Another point in favor to visit México is its gastronomy is characterized by its variety and complexity it is important to mention that the lunch in Mexico is highly valued as a family bond is the factor that binds society through her you make friends, partners are known, large businesses are closed or just enjoying a good time.

The population of México is very proud of her country, culture, ethnicity and lifestyle. Other important aspects of their culture are values, family unity, respect, hard work and solidarity of the community.                                                                                                          Oh almost I forget, I'm 19 years old and I love to hear music especially the red hot chili peppers, king of leon and audioslave.
